Factory Data Reset (Powered Off)

Reset your TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G to factory settings as a final troubleshooting step. Use this method if your device is unresponsive or you can't access the Settings menu.

Before you begin

Perform a factory data reset only if necessary as it removes your Google™ account and all data including system data, app data and media.
If a pattern, PIN, etc. is or has ever been set up on the device, Google account sign-in is needed during initial setup.
For devices with Android™ Device Protection turned on, it's essential that Google sign-in credentials are known before completing a factory reset with the device powered off. If credentials are unknown, do one of the following:

Steps

  1. With the device powered off, press and hold the
    Volume down button
     and
    Power button
     of the device until the device begins to power on release only the Power button.
  2. Continue to hold the
    Volume down button
     until the Android Recovery screen appears.
  3. From the Android system recovery screen, select
    Wipe data/factory reset
     to continue with the reset.
    Use the Volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the Power button to select.
  4. To confirm, select
    Factory data reset
    .
  5. Select
    Reboot system now
     then allow several mintues for the reboot process to complete.
