Activate your Pixel 7a to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages, and connect to the internet.

Before you begin

If using a physical SIM card, make sure a 5G SIM is inserted into the device before powering on.
If the eSIM profile fails to download, refer to Download and Activate an eSIM after device setup is completed.

Steps

  1. Press and hold the
    Power button
     until the Google logo appears. Select your language then tap the
    Start arrow
    .
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  3. If necessary, wait for the eSIM profile to download, then tap
    Next
    .
  4. When the phone activation is complete, tap
    Continue
    .
  5. To copy apps and data, tap
    Next
     to transfer your content now.
  6. Sign in to your Google™ account or create a new one.
  7. Set up a screen lock then add fingerprint recognition or face recognition to secure your device.
  8. Review the Google Services and device backup options, then tap
    Accept
     or
    Turn on backup
    .
  9. Review and accept the Verizon Services and additional legal terms.
  10. Follow the onscreen prompts to set up additional Google features (e.g., Gemini, Google Assistant, etc.).
  11. Review the navigation gestures and tap

  12. To finish setup, swipe up to go to the Home screen.
