Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Pixel 7a to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a secure screen lock  (e.g., PIN, pattern, etc.) is set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Do any of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the info then tap
        I agree
        .
      2. Review the info then tap
        Start
        .
      3. Align your face within the circle and follow onscreen prompts until the process is complete.
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the Face section, tap the
        Trash icon
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Delete
        .
