Activate / Set Up Device

Activate your Apple® iPhone® SE (3rd Gen) to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages and connect to the internet.

Before you begin

iPhone SE (3rd Gen) requires a Wi-Fi network for eSIM activation. If you're only activating the eSIM, remove the pre-installed 5G SIM card to access Verizon's 5G network.
If using a physical SIM card, make sure the 5G SIM card is inserted into the device before powering on.
From your old iPhone, ensure Find My app is turned off then power the device off.
If you don't have enough storage space and temporary iCloud storage is needed, refer to this Apple Support Page (iOS 15 or newer is required).
If this is an upgrade or your phone was not activated after purchase, refer to activate a new iPhone.
If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.

Steps

  1. Press and hold the
    Power button
     on the new iPhone until it powers on.
  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to select a language then tap the country or region.
  3. From the Quick Start screen, tap
    Set Up Without Another Device
    .
  4. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  5. Confirm your phone number then tap
    Next
    .
  6. Review the Data & Privacy info then tap
    Continue
    .
  7. From the Age Range screen, select an age range (Child, Teen or Adult).
  8. To set up Touch ID, tap
    Continue
     then follow the onscreen instructions.
  9. Enter a 6-digit passcode or tap
    Passcode Options
     to select a different method (e.g., 4-Digit Code, Don't Use Passcode, etc.).
  10. Tap a setup option then allow up to 30 minutes for the restore to complete:
  11. Enter your Apple ID and password then tap
    Next

    If you have an Apple ID already in use on another device, a verification code is sent to that device; you must enter this code to proceed with activation.
    If you don't have an Apple ID or have forgotten your sign in info, tap Forgot password or Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID.
  12. Review Terms and Conditions, tap
    Agree
     then follow the onscreen prompts (i.e. Update Your iPhone Automatically, Location Services, Siri, etc.) to customize additional features.
  13. To complete setup, swipe up or tap
