Activate / Set Up Device

Activate your Apple® iPhone® 7 / 7 Plus to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages, and connect to the internet.

Before you begin

If this is an upgrade or your phone was not activated when purchased, refer to activate a new iPhone.
Verify the Find My app (formerly known as Find My iPhone) is off then power off the old device prior to activating the new iPhone.
If activation is performed with an incorrect Apple ID or different number, erase all content and settings then sign in with the correct Apple ID.

Steps

  1. Press the
    Power button
     on the new iPhone to power it on.
  2. Press the
    Home button
     to unlock your iPhone.
  3. Select your language then tap the country or region.
  4. From the Quick Start screen, tap
    Set Up Manually
    .
  5. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  6. From the Data & Privacy screen, tap
    Continue
    .
  7. To set up Touch ID, tap
    Continue
     then follow the onscreen prompts or
    Set Up Later in Settings
    .
  8. Enter a 6-digit passcode, re-enter passcode, then tap
    Next
    .
  10. Enter your Apple ID and password then tap
    Next
    .
    If you have an Apple ID already in use on another device, a verification code is sent to that device; you must enter this code to proceed with activation.
    If you don't have an Apple ID or have forgotten your sign in info, tap Forgot password or Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID.
  11. Review the Terms and Conditions, tap
    Agree
     then follow the onscreen prompts (i.e. Update Your iPhone Automatically, Location Services, etc.) to customize more features.
  12. To complete the setup, tap
    Get Started
