Determining Message Type

Knowing your message type helps you figure out if texts are using cellular data or iMessage, making troubleshooting sending issues much easier.

Steps

Open the

Messaging app

Tap a message then verify the color of the message bubble.

Blue bubble is for iMessage. The text entry field displays iMessage and requires a valid Apple ID.

Green bubble is for SMS/MMS. Text entry field displays Text Message and requires a messaging plan.
