 Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Galaxy S26 / S26+ / S26 Ultra to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security and privacy
    Screen lock and biometrics
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Face recognition
    .
  5. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition screen, review the info about Face recognition then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. Review the 'Face recognition help' prompt, then tap
        Register
        .
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed onscreen until 'Face registered' displays.
      4. From the Face recognition menu, tap any of the following switch(es) to turn on or off (e.g., Face unlock, Stay on Lock screen until swipe, etc.).
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the Face recognition menu, tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
