Transfer SIM / eSIM for Bring Your Own Device

When you get a new device, you’ll need to transfer your existing number to keep using it without interruption. Follow these instructions to move your previous eSIM or physical SIM card info to your BYOD Apple® iPads®.

Before you begin

Verify you have the following iPads:
  • iPad Pro (2022 and newer)
  • iPad Mini (6th Gen and newer)
  • iPad Air (5th Gen and newer)
  • iPad (10th Gen and newer)
The BYOD device must be unlocked. For iPads purchased from another carrier, refer to the lock policies for AT&T or T-Mobile.
Before completing the steps below, verify both devices:

Steps

  1. On your BYOD (target) iPad, open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Cellular
    Add a New Plan
    .
  3. Choose from one of the following options:
    • Transfer iPad Plan
    • Use QR Code
    • Transfer Android Plan
      This option is currently only available for the Pixel 10 device.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the transfer.
    Remaining steps will vary based on the option selected.
  5. From the Choose a SIM screen, tap the desired line you want to transfer then tap
    Continue
