Text Message Notification Settings

Prevent missed messages while managing noisy alerts. Turn text message notifications on or off and set custom alert tones on your Samsung Messages app.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Messages app
    .
  2. Tap the
    3-dot Menu
     then select
    Settings
    .
  3. Tap
    Notifications
    .
  4. Tap the
    Show notification switch
     to turn on or off.
  5. From the Alerts section select the preferred option:
    • Allow sound and vibration
    • Silent
  6. From the Notification types section, tap the preferred options to set to 'Allowed' or 'Not allowed'.
    • Lock screen
    • Badge
    • Pop-up
  7. Tap
    Lock screen notification
     then select the preferred option (e.g., Show content, Hide content).
  8. Tap
    Notification categories
     then tap the following switches to turn notifications on or off for each:
    • Foreground syncs
    • General notifications
    • New messages
      If eSIM is enabled, tap the applicable switch to turn new message notifications on or off.
