Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Galaxy S21 FE 5G to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a secure screen lock (PIN, pattern, etc.) has been set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security and privacy
    Lock screen
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Face Recognition
    .
  5. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition screen, review the info about Face recognition then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the square displayed onscreen.
      3. To continue, review the info about Backing up your Pattern, tap
        Agree
         then follow the onscreen directions to sign in to your Samsung account.
      4. From the Face recognition menu, tap any of the following switch(es) to turn on or off (e.g., Face unlock, Stay on Lock screen until swipe, etc.).
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the Face recognition menu, tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
