Windows 11
Add a Wi-Fi Network

Keep your Windows® 11 device connected. Learn how to quickly set up and join any available Wi-Fi network with this simple walkthrough.

Before you begin

For Mi-Fi devices, refer to Wi-Fi Encryption Key/Passphrase for assistance locating the default network credentials (SSID/Password).
If you're unable to locate the Wi-Fi switch on your computer, browse to the Product support page for your computer model to view the User Guide's Wi-Fi switch info section.
When using a notebook, make sure that the network adapter switch on your computer is turned on. Many notebooks have a physical switch somewhere on the top, front, or side of the computer that turns the network adapter on or off.
There's usually an indicator light on the notebook that shows if the wireless network adapter is enabled.

Steps

  1. Select the
    Wi-Fi icon
located in the lower right of the taskbar to open the Quick Setting menu.
If the Wi-Fi icon isn't visible, select the
    Signal bars icon
, also located in the lower right of the taskbar.
  2. Select the
    Arrow icon
    next to the Wi-Fi icon.
  3. Select an available network.
For notebook computers (non-tablets), a physical switch may need to be turned on.
If the preferred network isn't listed, it can be added manually.
  4. Select
    Connect
    .
To automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network whenever it's available, select
    Connect automatically
    before connecting.
  5. If presented, enter the network security key or username and password then select
    OK
    .
