Formatting an SD card erases all files and readies it for use with your Galaxy S9 / S9+. This helps with troubleshooting or starting fresh with clean storage.

Before you begin

Ensure an SD / memory card is inserted in your device and that it isn't connected to a computer via a USB cable.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Device care
    Storage
    Advanced
    .
  3. From the Portable storage section, select the name of the SD / memory card
  4. Tap
    Format
    .
  5. Review the info then tap
    Format SD card
     then allow several seconds for the process to complete.
