To ensure proper phone functionality when abroad, you might need to adjust the International CDMA setting on your Apple® iPhone®.

Before you begin

Turning off International CDMA while in another country may improve poor messaging or data performance.
The steps only apply while traveling outside the US, may vary based on the international network and applies to the following iPhone models:
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Cellular
    Cellular Data Options
    Roaming
    .
  3. Tap the
    Voice Roaming switch
     to turn on or off.
  4. With Voice Roaming turned on, do one of the following:
    • Tap the
      Data Roaming switch
       to turn on or off.
    • Tap the
      International CDMA switch
       to turn on or off.
