Manage Audio Alerts

Configuring alerts and notification sounds for your Apple® iPhone® can help keep you informed of events like calendar reminders, incoming messages, etc.

Before you begin

If your iPhone won't ring or vibrate, ensure Silent Mode is turned off.
Review Manage App Alerts / Notifications for assistance with onscreen notifications.
To turn Attention Aware Features on or off (e.g., the alert volume is lowered when you're looking at your screen) refer to this Apple Support page.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Sounds & Haptics
    .
  3. Move the
    Volume slider
     left or right to adjust Ringtone.
  4. Tap the
    Change with Buttons switch
     to turn on or off.
  5. Tap
    Haptics
     then select one of the of the following options (e.g., Always Play, Play in Silent Mode, etc.).
  6. Tap the
    Back arrow
     to return to previous screen.
  7. Select any of the following options (e.g., Ringtone, Text Tone, etc.) then select the alert tone.
  8. Tap any of the following switches to turn on or off:
    • Keyboard Feedback
    • Lock Sound
    • System Haptics
